i found this article interesting, and thought I would put it on here for the other NWM people to see, happy reading.

NWM => Treat it like a JOB?

Hello Business Associates:

As Network Marketing business builders, we keep hearing, over and over –

=> “You need to treat this like a BUSINESS — or you’ll never become truly successful!”

=> You need to stop treating this like a JOB!”

Or we hear from our partners — “How do I get people to treat our Network Marketing Opportunity like a BUSINESS?”

Well here’s a thought to toss around – - -

Maybe we should NOT be getting them to treat it like a ‘BUSINESS’…

In fact, perhaps we should ‘STOP telling’ them to treat it like a Business.

W-H-Y?…

Because if we really think about it — most people in our society have NEVER HAD a Business — so they probably don’t even know what a Home Biz really ‘means’.

Most Network Marketers (us) are people with ‘average and ordinary’ backgrounds.

Most of them (us) were programmed to do exactly what 97% of the ‘rest’ of the population were programmed to do…

Get a good education — get a good job — WORK very HARD — be LOYAL and INDUSTRIOUS — and you’ll ‘move up the ladder’ — and eventually retire — with a gold watch + a pension (the good old days?).

So, the Masses are programmed to – work a J-O-B — not to build a B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S.

Hmmm…

Can you see where I’m ‘going’ with this thinking?

It meas the masses don’t really have something they can “relate to, with personal experience” – when we tell them to — “treat it like a BUSINESS”.

So my own sense is — perhaps we should NOT be telling them that. What do you think?

Instead, perhaps we should be telling them to – “treat it like a J-O-B”.

That’s something they’re already familiar with – they can already understand that “work ethic”.

If we think about it, at their JOB, most get up every morning (when they really don’t want to) – and they go to a Job (they would often prefer ‘not’ to go to) – in an effort to make (barely enough) money – to pay their bills and finance their living.

Perhaps we should be telling them — “(John), this BUSINESS requires the same type of Commitment and Energy and Loyalty and Self Discipline that you have put into to your JOB”.

Then we can add — “However (John), in Network Marketing — here’s the difference — you will be working towards DESIGNING A LIFE for yourself and your loved ones — instead of merely MAKING A LIVING”.

I believe that more people will “understand” this — because they “already have” the personal experience with having a JOB.

They can “personally relate” to what it takes to make a JOB work — and guess what?…

That’s exactly what it takes — to make NET – ‘WORK’ MARKETING work.

So just maybe — we should ALL be treating our MNW businesses — like a J-O-B(?)

I personally love what this industry offers to us –and if it means coaching people to treat it with the same ‘positive principles’ they’ve used in their JOBS –then so be it.

Just thinking out loud with you on this
