UK only extra Game – Millionaire Raffle

In november 2009 the price of a Euromillions lottery ticket in the United Kingdom increased from £1.50 to £2.00. The price increase was to bring it more inline with mainland europe who pay in euro’s and to level out the difference in the exchange rate. At the time of the price increase Camelot introduced a new game called the “Millionaire raffle”.

The millionaire raffle game is UK only, and whenver a UK ticket is purchased the ticket holder is also issued with a unique Millionaire raffle selection. This selection consists of a series of numbers and letters. The selection is then entered into the weekly draw, which guarantees every week to make 1 new UK Millionaire.

Odds of winning the Millionaire Raffle

The rough odds of winning the Millionaire Raffle prize of £1 million on the Tuesday Millionaire Raffle draw are estimated to be 1:3,500,000 based on rough sales per draw of 3.5 million Raffle entries.

The rough odds of winning the Millionaire Raffle prize of £1 million on the Friday Millionaire Raffle draw are estimated to be 1:9,200,000 based on rough sales per draw of 9.2 million Raffle entries.

The odds of winning the millionaire raffle could vary considerably for each Millionaire Raffle draw depending on the number of Millionaire Raffle entries for that particular Millionaire Raffle draw (for example, if there is a EuroMillions Rollover)

Millionaire Raffle Superdraws

As with the Euromillions superdraws, the bolt on game is also holding occasional superdraws. The first one was on November the 12th 2010 when 10 selections were made, creating 10 UK millionaires in addition to those created through the normal Euro draw.The next one is planned for Christmas eve 2010, when a Millionaire raffle superdraw will create 25 millionaires by picking 25 numbers from the additional game in the UK.

Millionaire Raffle Twice per week

As of may 2011 the millionaire raffle moved to twice per week, with draws on Friday and Tuesday. This was when the new Tuesday euromillions draw was launched when Camelot introduced a new prize category for matching 2 main numbers, and increase the lucky stars from 1-9 to 1-11.
