EuroMillions £26.1 million lottery winner is George Sturt taxi driver
Yes that is correct, the lucky winner of last fridays lottery rollover has been names as a pensioner, called George Sturt, who at the age of 76 still drives taxi cabs.
It has been reported that he plans to give away most of his fortune to charity and cancer research after the sad and recent death of his wife. It is believed that Mr Sturt had lost his wife, Maureen, also know as Mary, from cancer about six months ago.
Mr Sturt, who has eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, is to share the win with three other members of his family Euromillions lottery syndicate, his daughter Teresa, 44, and sons Colin, 53, and Gary, 51.
Mr Sturt senior walked into the offices of his local newspaper at lunch time on Monday, where he announced he had scooped the lottery jackpot British share."I don't care about having a lot of money – I am just glad that my children will be looked after.”
Mr Sturt went onto say, that he would not retire and he would continue to drive his cab as he gas met so many nice peope, including his 96 year old friend.
His son Colin, who is part of the lottery syndicate said "We put £4 each into a syndicate each week, but you don't in your wildest dreams ever think you are going to hit it big like this. I mean it is over six million quid each."
That's an amazing story there, and we at the lottery players blog would like to wish the winners all the best of luck, and we must say it makes a nice change for someone to give a lot of the big win away to charity.
Next time, hopefully I will win!
