UK National lottery run games – specific data

So the best odds of winning a lottery jackpot at present (playing United Kingdom based games) are with lotto hotpicks, however the jackpot is only £130,000 so not millions like in most lottery games. Likewise the second best odds of winning a lottery jackpot fall to the new health lottery game, which top level winners scoop £100,000 – again not a massive amount for winning the lottery, however still potentially life changing.

Third best odds of winning the lottery lie with Thunderball which scoops winners £500,000. In joint 4th place is the UK National lottery and the bolt on plus 5 lotto game with the same odds (as the game is drawn and played the same way). Of course winning the UK National lottery will normally net the winner millions (Depending on number of other winners) whilst winning the lotto plus 5 game will only bring home £250,000 for the winner.

Sitting in last place with the highest odds of winning the lottery in our little selection is the ever popular euromillions lotto game. The odds of winning the euromillions are stupidly high, and increased massively when on Tuesday May the 10th 2011 – euro-millions increased the lucky stars from 1-9 to 1-11. Of course with higher odds come much higher jackpot winnings of anywhere from £10 million to £100+ million being won.

So, and this will come as no surprise the odds of winning depend on the amount that can be won. Ultimately the lottery needs to decide, would they like to have better odds of winning the lottery and getting a smaller cash prize or have massive odds of winning, but stand the chance of winning much more money.

From a global perspective the best odds at present come from a new private operator called the Players lottery (little known about this game at present). The worst odds seem to come from Italy at present with the odds of winning the Superenalotto at 622,614,630 to 1. Now those are some stupidly high odds of winning the lottery!
